  1. I remember someone on Radio 4 (possibly on the News Quiz) talking about the Cassini Probe and how it had cost millions of pounds, but mile for mile it still worked out cheaper than Network Rail. 🙂
On visting Aberdeen last year, I was intrigued to discover that First Bus charged the Aberdonians the same as the Bristolians for an all day bus ticket (as many buses as you can eat), but were far, far cheaper on the individual fares. Presumably the justification for this is “We can get away with it in Bristol, but the Aberdonians would riot” or something? I wasn’t paying enough attention to notice if Aberdeen still had two bus companies like it did in days of yore when I was a student there.
